Interesting Links...

Selwa Anthony Author Management- Selwa Anthony, my agent, represents some of the most popular writers in Australia.

Buzz Words - Online children's book industry magazine for authors, illustrators, librarians and lovers of children's and young adult literature. Very informative with lots of reviews.

Fantastic Queensland - This is a fabulous site dedicated to speculative fiction. This is also the team that administers the Aurealis Awards.

YARA Older Reader's Website - I love this site! Teens and young adults submit their own reviews of the books they have read. Their insights are fascinating and as an author, I feel they are invaluable. Read and enjoy.

Fantasy 100 website - This site lists some of the best fantasy anywhere ever. Take a look at some of the old covers (ie. Ursula Le Guin's A Wizard of Earthsea) - simply awesome.

Teenreads - Another site featuring reviews and author bios.

Some favourite young adult books...

The Tomorrow Series & Ellie Chronicles - John Marsden is one of my favourite authors. His character Ellie is so real, that reading her thoughts is like sitting down to a conversation with a close friend.  Exciting futuristic look at an invasion of Australia as seen from the point of view of teenager Ellie.  The Australian bush and country life are brilliantly evoked alongside the more surreal concept of invasion. Terrific.

Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series is brilliant - very clever, very funny.

The Dark is Rising Sequence - Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising Sequence has been around since I was in school. I borrowed the books over and over again from my school library. The cover of The Grey King, still gives me goosebumps - I can feel the magic inside just by looking at it.

Currently reading...

Uglies Trilogy - Just finished reading Uglies and now onto Pretties.  Scott Westerfeld's Uglies  is the best series I've started since John Marsden's Tomorrow books. Tally, a fifteen year old girl lives in a city where everyone is turned pretty on their sixteenth birthday regardless of choice. With a sinister undercurrent of  malevolent control and terrible secrets, this makes addictive reading.

Westerfeld published a fourth Uglies book in late 2007, entitled Extras

Sites of fellow Aussie writers of speculative fiction...

Richard Harland - Prolific author of Wolf Kingdom quartet.

Josephine Pennicott - Author of the Circle of Nine trilogy.

Louise Cusack - Author of the Shadow Through Time fantasy trilogy.

Jason Nahrung - Author of supernatural thriller The Darkness Within.
