The King's Fool
The Perry Brightfield
Chronicles I
The masks people wear are sometimes truer than the faces behind them…
The King’s Fool
is the first book in the The Perry
Brightfield Chronicles.
It tells the story of Perry, a contemporary teenage
girl growing up in NSW Australia. She is struggling
to cope with a new school, her first crush and an
impossible guardian Jurd, who is ruining her life!
Perry has a terrible secret that she dare not share
with anyone. Unlike the other kids at school she is
on the run, chased by not only the authorities, but
by something so evil that Jurd can only speak of it
in fairytales.
When that evil breaks into her world, she is drawn
into a strange and distant land - the kingdom of
Satisca, where history and fairytale just happen to
be the same thing.
To mask her identity, she is apprenticed to the
mysterious fool in the court of a narcissistic king.
As if this isn’t bad enough, she is forced to wear a
ridiculous bird suit, complete with wings and a
beak.
Now, as each person she has come to trust is taken
from her, she feels more alone than ever. Her enemy
has powerful allies and it's only a matter of time
before it tracks her down.
Perry must discover exactly what it
takes to be a hero, before she winds up just another victim in its
diabolical collection.
